Polyphenols and aging
Is it possible that the answer to aging was in front of us, the whole time? Yes,they have. The secret has been found in fruits, specifically grapes and apples. They are know as polyphenols. The strongest form of polyphenols so far, comes from the apple.
Polyphenols will soon become very popular as a daily supplement. There are promising studies that are ongoing and will prove things far greater than what we know now about polyphenols. One of the most important discoveries is that polyphenols increase cell activity to a very healthy level, giving the body a greater advantage at repairing itself. They have also found that it has reduced/eliminated body fat around the organs. In case you didn't know, fat around the organs prevents healthy function of the body, ages the organs much quicker and increases the possibility of cancers greatly. Which would explain the high cancer rate in the most obese country in the world.
So far the studies have shown that polyphenols have an effect on certain proteins and cells that are linked to aging and free radicals which attack healthy cells. When free radicals attack healthy cells, the cells are damaged and they move on to damage more cells. If the they are not repaired they eventually die. The death of cells is ultimately what shows as aging (gray hair, wrinkles, spots, immobility and the gradual decline in healthy function). This is what we can attribute death to.
Polyphenols protect against free radicals and restore damaged tissue and cells back to thier healthy state. So not only do polyphenols have potential for curing diseases, cancer, and improving overall health. They also have huge potential for slowing down and even reversing the aging process.
